01 · What we collect
What we collect
We only gather what an invite-only community actually needs to run. That is:
- Your invite request. The email address and Discord handle you send us, plus whatever you choose to write about what you're building and any member who vouches for you.
- Membership basics. Once you join, your Discord user ID and the channels you participate in are visible to Discord and to us as server administrators — the same as any Discord server.
- Site analytics. Anonymous, aggregate usage of mfmdiscord.com — pages viewed and rough referral source — and only where you have consented (see section 03).
We do not ask for your legal name, phone number, address, or payment details. MFM is free and there is nothing to bill.
02 · Why we collect it
Why we collect it
Each piece of data maps to one purpose and stops there:
- Your email and handle let us reply to your request and deliver a single-use Discord invite if you're accepted.
- What you write lets a member read your request and decide whether to vouch.
- Analytics tell us which parts of the site are read and which are ignored, so we can keep it short.
Our lawful basis is your consent when you apply, and our legitimate interest in running a safe, small community for its members.
03 · Cookies & analytics
Cookies & analytics
The site loads no analytics and sets no non-essential cookies until you agree. When you first visit, a consent banner asks; if you decline, nothing is loaded and no identifier is stored. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing the site's storage in your browser.
Any analytics we do run are configured to be privacy-respecting: IPs are not stored in the clear, and we never build advertising profiles or track you across other websites.
04 · Who we share with
Who we share with
We do not sell your data, and we never will. We share it only with the handful of services that make the community function:
- Discord, which hosts the community itself and processes your data under its own privacy policy.
- Our email provider, used solely to reply to invite requests.
- Our analytics provider, only where you consented, and only in aggregate.
We may disclose information if a valid legal order compels us, or where it is strictly necessary to protect the safety of members.
05 · How long we keep it
How long we keep it
- Declined or withdrawn requests are deleted within 90 days.
- Accepted requests are kept for as long as you are a member, then removed within 90 days of you leaving.
- Analytics data is aggregated and retained for no more than 14 months.
When you leave the Discord server, your messages remain visible in their channels as part of the shared record unless you ask us to remove them — see section 07.
06 · Your rights
Your rights
Wherever you live, and in line with the GDPR for those in the EU and UK, you can:
- Access a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correct anything inaccurate.
- Erase your data (the "right to be forgotten").
- Object to or restrict a particular use, including analytics.
- Port your data to yourself in a portable format.
Exercise any of these by writing to hello@mfmdiscord.com. We respond within 30 days and never charge for it.
07 · Deleting your data
Deleting your data
To have your data erased, email hello@mfmdiscord.com from the address you applied with, or send us your Discord handle. We will confirm your identity, remove your request records, and — if you ask — delete your messages from the community channels.
Some limited records may survive briefly in encrypted backups, which are cycled out on a rolling 90-day schedule.
08 · Changes & contact
Changes & contact
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will post a notice in the community and update the effective date above. Continuing to use MFM after a change means you accept the revised policy.
Questions about anything here? Write to hello@mfmdiscord.com or read the Terms of Use.
